Hardies invests in fresh talent

HARDIES Property & Construction Consultants has confirmed the appointment of seven trainee building surveyors and quantity surveyors in the past 18 months, to add to the one trainee gained from its recent acquisition of The Binnie McKenzie Partnership.

Three of the trainees attend an apprentice route degree at Napier University, with the remainder coming from Heriot Watt and Glasgow Caledonian universities.

Danny McArthur, Hardies staff partner said, “We have already seen significant growth this year and, as the firm continues to grow and develop, we identified a need for fresh talent. And while there is a shortage of building and quantity surveyors available in the sector, we decided to invest in training our own.

“Following our successful merger in 2016 with Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, Scotland’s leading chartered surveyors, valuers, property agents and property managers, we have been able to further invest in quality staff across the business and fund this ambitious graduate recruitment and trainee programme.”

Since the merger with Shepherd and acquisition of The Binnie McKenzie Partnership, Hardies said there are now more than 40 graduates and trainees across the three firms.

The eight newest recruits, who work across the firm’s Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, are: Molly McGregor (Dunfermline), Grant Cunningham (Dundee), Jack Heneghan (Glasgow), Alana Sneddon (Edinburgh), Kristofer Robinson (Dunfermline), Ryan Ferguson (Dundee), Ronan Whyte (Dundee) and Laura Falconer (Edinburgh).
