Glasgow housebuilder starts work on £5 million development

CONSTRUCTION work has started on a new 40-home £5 million development in Springburn, Glasgow.

The two-bed apartments for social rent are being built by Glasgow-based AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd on behalf of Home Scotland, part of social housing specialist Home Group.

The development comprises two four-storey blocks, with timber frame construction tipped to speed up build time and provide energy efficiency benefits. The homes should be ready by autumn 2019.

Paul Kelly, managing director of AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd said, “This development will provide high-quality, modern and affordable rented accommodation for the Springburn area, on what was previously a gap site.”

Stuart Dixon, Home Scotland head of development and delivery added, “We already have an excellent relationship with AS Homes so it’s good to be working with them again. We look forward to providing a further 40 affordable homes in this area of Glasgow. The flats will put this vacant land to good use, helping to enhance Springburn.”
