Industry stakeholders urged to consider CITB board role

THE Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has called for “influential” industry figures to apply to become a trustee of its board and help shape the future of the organisation.

With three vacancies currently available, the Department for Education is seeking applications from experienced and knowledgeable individuals from a wide range of construction backgrounds including SMEs, large employers, independent consultants, employer federations and academics.

Mark Noonan, industry relations director at CITB said, “These are highly influential, senior roles which represent a fantastic opportunity for suitable industry stakeholders to play a direct role in shaping the future CITB. This includes influencing and directing spend where it is needed most, thinking innovatively, and to make both CITB and the industry more accountable.

“CITB is at a pivotal point in its 54 year history as it begins a crucial, industry-driven process of reform under its Vision 2020 proposals. There has never been a better time for suitable industry candidates to pledge their commitment to making the construction industry a better place in which to work.”

CITB said board trustees are responsible for the “governance, strategic direction and monitoring” of business performance and are “expected to have the ability to offer and communicate a progressive view of the industry’s future skills and training needs”.

Interested candidates have until March 14 to apply via the Department for Education website https://publicappointments.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/appointment/board-members-6/
