German firm eyes Edinburgh tech scene

SHEPHERD Chartered Surveyors has secured a deal to acquire the top floor of One St Andrews Square in Edinburgh for a German tech company.

Berlin-headquartered KPV LAB is expanding its offices into the UK and will take over the 3,813 sq ft top floor of the four-storey redeveloped building in the city centre.

Steven Clarke, commercial agency surveyor at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors said, “One St Andrews Square was an instant front runner for our client upon viewing; perhaps unsurprising given the prime location of the newly developed south side of St Andrews Square and the imminent St James development.

“Edinburgh is fast becoming a hub for tech companies in the UK and Europe, with the industry dominating 2017 office space transactions. With further prime office developments under construction, we expect this trend to continue over the coming years, consolidating Edinburgh as a major European tech destination for occupiers.”

Tom Beddard, director of KPV LAB Edinburgh added, “It was the classic character of the exterior combined with the uniquely modern personality of the interior that really attracted us to One St Andrews Square. The space suitably complements our other offices in Berlin and Munich and will allow us to properly participate in the thriving tech scene in Edinburgh.”
