MORRISON Construction and East Ayrshire Council have won the Best Service award at the Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland.

The honour is in recognition of the design and delivery of the £12 million Whatriggs Primary and Early Childhood Centre in Kilmarnock. The school opened earlier this year and was designed in collaboration with Keppie Design.

Eddie Robertson, managing director for Morrison Construction’s central Scotland business said, ”This is a fantastic achievement for all those involved. The GO Awards are one of the most respected in the industry and I am delighted the team has won in an area that is key for us as a business.

“We work extremely hard to deliver excellence and value to the public sector so that the communities we work in can benefit for many years to come from the facilities we deliver. The high praise from the Leader of East Ayrshire Council in his acceptance speech was particularly warming.”

Andrew Kennedy, East Ayrshire Council’s head of facilities and property management added, “We’re delighted for Morrison Construction as the Go Awards Scotland rightly recognise their efforts in procurement excellence on the Whatriggs Campus.

“We set a challenging brief to create a fantastic school campus, fit for a 21st Century education and, as well as Morrison Construction delivering on time and within budget, their approach to school and local community engagement made for an excellent project.’’

The winners will now contest the national awards in Manchester next year.
