TRANSPORT Scotland has appointed WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff to assess route speed improvements on the Highland Main Line.
The professional services consultancy said it will produce a business case for rail plans to improve connectivity between Inverness and Scotland’s central belt.
Douglas Rushforth, project director at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff said, “The Highland Main Line is an exciting project win for us. Our role will be to outline a business case for the planned journey time improvements, improved capacity and more efficient freight operations making sure that any changes to the existing line are justifiable.
“The project will be important in assessing how these changes will reduce travel times for passengers, so we look forward to seeing how our part in this will help support the next phase of improvements.”
