A Glasgow-based renewable energy firm has been shortlisted for two major industry awards.

SPV Energy, who specialise in commercial and domestic solar photovoltaic and commercial biomass, is the only Scottish business in contention for the Solar PV category within the ‘National Energy Efficiency and Retrofit Awards’ which take place in Birmingham later this month.

The firm has also been short-listed for the ‘Green Champion’ prize at the Glasgow Business Awards, held in October.

SPV was awarded “Solar PV Installer of the Year 2016” at the Regional Energy Efficiency Awards in March.

Commercial director Jim O’Brien said, “This is a tremendous achievement for all our staff. We are a challenger brand in the energy sector, and recently we have seen so many Solar PV businesses close down, yet we continue to go from strength to strength and this is down to the belief that our people have in our products.”

SPV Energy employs 35 people from its Shettleston base. In 2014 the company installed the Solar PV to the nearby Athletes’ Village, which was built for the Commonwealth Games.
