Major investment helps keep Deer Park above par

The Muir Group has announced a six figure investment in its country club and golf course, Deer Park.

Some of Scotland’s construction firms will join professional golfers and businesses from other sectors this week to play the revamped course at the annual EMTEC Deer Park Masters.

£90,000 was spent on upgrading the course and buying new equipment for maintenance, while country club facilities were also refreshed. A further £100,000 went towards redecorating the clubhouse and £80,000 was invested in gym equipment, bringing the total investment to almost £2 million since 2004.

“I am extremely proud of Deer Park. The country club holds a special place in my heart”, said Muir Group founder and chairman John Muir. “All these improvements have our members in mind. After buying the facility almost 30 years ago, we have always listened and constantly worked to improve it wherever, and whenever possible.”

Stuart Cruickshank, Deer Park general manager added, “The EMTEC Deer Park Masters will be a celebration of what makes our club special – great golf being played in good spirit in spectacular surroundings. It’s a fantastic opportunity for visitors to experience the club and all the improvements first hand. The feedback we have received from our members, who feel the benefit of this investment day in and day out, has been extremely encouraging.”

BBC golf commentator Peter Alliss helped design the course in 1978. Since then the club has hosted a number of major events, including the Scottish PGA championship.
