THE Lakesmere Group has secured a contract worth £1 million to deliver an “innovative cladding package” for the new Marriott Residence Inn Hotel in Aberdeen.
The deal, for the first Marriott brand hotel to open in the city, was awarded by main contractor Morgan Sindall.
The hotel has been designed by architects Halliday Fraser Munro. The Lakesmere Group said it is a “key part” of Aberdeen Council and Muse Development’s £107 million Marischal Square city centre regeneration project.
Lakesmere said, “The contract will see the Lakesmere North team work within a busy city centre, with the hotel also being close to the historic Provost Skene House. Lakesmere’s scope of work will include the design and installation of the hotel’s striking rainscreen package which includes coloured aluminium panels specified in complementary shades of grey. Work is expected to commence on site in August 2016.”
Lakesmere North’s previous work in Aberdeen includes the various cladding work at Robert Gordon University as part of the redevelopment of the Garthdee Campus.
