Aberdeen City Council has released planning permission in principle for the new Countesswells community development. Work on the project can now get underway this month.
Two new appointments have been announced as preparations for work to begin on site come to an end. Allan McGregor has been appointed as project manager and will support the project director, Jim Fitzsimons, in delivering the infrastructure works. Clare Burt has been appointed as community liaison officer and will serve as the communication link with local residents, members of the public and others throughout the project.
The Countesswells development will comprise 3,000 homes, 750 of which will be affordable, along with infrastructure including schools, parks, employment land, leisure and healthcare facilities.
The project will be phased over 15 years and have a total capital value of approximately £1 billion.
