A significant milestone has been reached in the development of the £39 million Forfar Community Campus.

Contractor Robertson Tayside ‘topped out’ the building, which is due for completion in 2017, as work was completed on the highest point of the building. Next on the agenda is making the campus wind and water tight before fitting out the interior.

The project to replace the existing Forfar Academy, Lochside Leisure Centre and Forfar Swimming Pool, as well as provide additional facilities for the local community, is being led by hub East Central Scotland in partnership with Angus Council, Robertson Tayside and Scottish Futures Trust.

Derek Shewan, chief executive of Robertson Group, said, “Forfar Community Campus is an ambitious project that will bring fantastic facilities to the town. Reaching this stage of the build means we are on schedule to complete the first phase of the project – which includes completing the campus building, car park and initial sports pitches – in early 2017. Reaching this important stage in the project, you begin to see its true scale and appreciate just how big this will be for the people of Forfar.”
