Ogilvie bags £7.5m school deal

Ogilvie Construction has started work on a £7.5 million project to build a new primary school in Armadale, West Lothian.

The contract was awarded by West Lothian Council and the new facility will include eight new classrooms and two general-purpose rooms as well as a gym and dining room and nursery provision for 60 pupils.

The project will also include the construction of a tarmac multi user games area, car parking and a grass pitch.

The building will incorporate energy saving technology such as photovoltaic panels on the roof, along with an increased insulation envelope and airtight design.

Donald MacDonald, Managing Director, Ogilvie Construction, said, “A focus on delivering the highest standards of quality and service is at the core of our business and the new Armadale Primary School will provide first class learning environment when it opens next year.”

Executive Councillor for Education, Lawrence  Fitzpatrick added, “This is another important step in the process and we are delighted that building work can now progress. Local people will be able to see the new school building take shape over the summer months and we look forward to working with Ogilvie Construction Limited to see the school building develop from the design stage through to completion.”

The school will be completed next summer in time for the start of the 2016/17 academic year.
