PLANNING and design consultancy Barton Willmore has named Colin Lavety as planning director in Scotland.
Joining from TNEI Services Ltd in Glasgow (part of the Petrofac Group), Colin is a chartered town planner with over 13 years experience across the development industry in Scotland and has worked for both private consultancies and in the public sector.
Most recently Colin’s focus has been in the renewables sector, acting as lead consultant on several large scale wind farms, securing planning consent for the first two community hydro schemes in the Western Isles and providing planning support in relation to commercial scale solar farms.
Colin has also provided advice to local authorities and worked on projects for the Scottish Government and DECC in relation to renewables/transmission projects.
Prior to TNEI, Colin worked across the residential, regeneration, ports & harbours and industrial sectors. This included securing consent for a number of residential schemes and acting as project manager on a number of mixed-use masterplanning projects.
Colin will be based in Barton Willmore’s Edinburgh office. “With the addition of Colin we now have an even stronger planning team here in Edinburgh. He will lead our planning team offering a wide range of expertise in all sectors to our expanding list of clients whilst supporting our growth in the renewables sector,” said Stephen Tucker, Edinburgh Partner.
Colin’s priorities will include all aspects of development management work, particularly EIA coordination and management, planning policy appraisal, planning law, stakeholder engagement, community consultation, masterplanning, planning appeals and site/plan promotion, as well as business development.
