LAURIESTON has been shortlisted in two categories for Scotland’s premier home building industry awards, scooping nominations for Best Partnership in Affordable Housing Delivery and Best Development (large).
The £100 million regeneration project is being delivered through an innovative partnership involving special purpose regeneration vehicle Transforming Communities: Glasgow, developer Urban Union and New Gorbals Housing Association.
Focused on the theme of “Foundations for the Future”, this year’s awards seek to recognise the efforts which have been made in order to ensure the strongest possible platform for sustained recovery within the new build market.
Graeme Nicol, managing director, Urban Union said, “We are proud to be nominated in two categories and applaud the dedication of our team and our partners New Gorbals Housing Association and Glasgow City Council in delivering this recognition by the industry. Together we are working hard to deliver quality and desirable housing for people in these cities, transforming Laurieston into a new world-class city quarter at the heart of a revived urban district.”
Winners will be announced at the Homes for Scotland annual awards at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday 15 May attended by 850 senior industry representatives and their guests. Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary with responsibility for housing, planning and building standards will provide the keynote address.
Mike Galloway, Director of City Development at Dundee City Council and chair of the independent judging panel said, “Whilst it is clear that the sector continues to face a number of tough challenges to recovery, it is encouraging to note the wide-ranging examples of commitment to overcoming these barriers in order to achieve the collective aim of delivering enough homes in the right locations across the country.
“The judges sought to highlight those companies and individuals showcasing high levels of innovation, creativity and excellence in their approaches to the delivery of quality housing, customer care and employee benefits and I look forward to seeing the worthy winners recognised at the awards ceremony in May.”
