MEMBERS of the public, school children and MSPs, as well as those just curious to find out more about life in constriction, took the opportunity to visit one of four Morrison Construction sites as part of this year’s Open Doors Weekend.
Alford Schools Community Campus, Inverness Campus (Inverness College, HIE Life Science Building and Enterprise & Research Centre), Elgin Flood Alleviation Scheme, as well as the Forth Replacement Crossing, of which Morrison Constriction is part of the Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors joint venture, all opened their doors as part of the UKCG’s Open Doors Weekend.
During the weekend activities, taking place over 6 and 7 March, participants were given the opportunity to see construction works in action, as well as talk to those individuals who make it all happen.
Ken Gillespie, Chief Executive – Construction, said, “Morrison Construction are once again delighted to support Open Doors Weekend. It allows us to display the complexity and scope of our modern construction projects and gives people an insight into what it is really like to work in the industry.
“Events such as this also allow people to understand how construction has changed over the years and the necessity for attracting such a skilled and varied workforce. People get a taster of the variety of careers available within the sector, and the increasing demand for management roles.”
