First contract for McLaughlin & Harvey since merger

MCLAUGHLIN & HARVEY is revving up to start works at Arnold Clark’s new multi-million pound HQ in Hillington. The construction firm was appointed main contractor for the first phase of the development.

This is the first contract won by the construction company under the McLaughlin & Harvey banner since its merger with Barr Construction in January 2015.

Arnold Clark, Europe’s largest independent motor retailer, will be relocating its headquarters to the site of the former Makro store in Hillington Industrial Estate. The existing building comprises a two storey retail warehouse, external canopy and outdoor car parking spaces.

The team will deliver enabling works, associated downtakings and partial demolition of the existing building, leaving a shell structure that will form the base of the new head office. Once the internal skeleton is exposed, the building will be refurbished to include office space and a large car showroom.

Robbie Clark, Head of Business Development at McLaughlin & Harvey, said, “Working for a well-known Scottish brand such as Arnold Clark is certainly a particular source of pride.

“Being a local contractor, it’s great that we have been appointed to the first phase of this project and we look forward to building on our relationship through the development.

“We have significant experience in the industrial and commercial sectors and understand that a project of this nature requires careful planning to coordinate the many different aspects of the build.”
