MARSHALL Construction have been appointed Principal Contractor for the new £8m Alyth Primary School development in Perthshire. Due to be operational by August 2016, the design and construction of the new build primary school is to incorporate the existing A listed 1800 community building.

After fully refurbishing the A listed community hub Speirs Centre, Marshall Construction secured the Alyth Primary School project through Hub East Central Scotland Limited together with Perth and Kinross Council. Marshall Construction have also recently developed 26 temporary bed sit accommodation units in Alloa and are currently working on their fourth Home Bargains contract in Fraserburgh, having secured four contracts with the store through competitive tendering.

Gordon Saunders, head of Marshall Construction’s design team, said: “We hope to have exciting news shortly about the design of this innovative new school which will incorporate an existing 1800 A listed building into the design. We are delighted to be delivering Alyth Primary School and as a company we have a strong track record of delivering high quality and best value schools and public buildings with lasting community benefits.”

Mr. Saunders further outlined that Marshall Construction, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary last year, will be working closely with all participating stakeholders as the project develops.

“We hope that the construction of the new primary school and community wing will be a learning experience for the children, who will perhaps base some of their curriculum activities on the construction of their new school, and (we) hope to involve the local community through milestones within the construction process.”

Working with hubco, Marshall Construction are developing a number of vacant Brownfield sites for local housing development projects.
