A family of professional golfers from Prestonpans has teamed up with a local housebuilder to provide a group of school children with a unique golfing lesson, ahead of the Ryder Cup.
The Saltman brothers who all live at David Wilson Homes’ Prestonfields development, were invited by the housebuilder, as part of their Pride of Place initiative, to give a group of 20 Primary Six children from Prestonpans Primary School a special lesson in the sport.
The masterclass started with an introduction into the history of golf and was followed by details on what it’s like to be a pro. The session was rounded off with a practical session where the children were helped to perfect their swing and improve their putting.
Anne Ross, sales director for David Wilson Homes in East Scotland, said, “Our Pride of Place initiative is designed to provide help to and improve local communities. With the Ryder Cup coming up we decided to host a special event for Prestonpans Primary School where they could learn more about golf directly from Scottish professionals and local residents, the Saltman brothers.”
Zack Saltman (25), Elliott Saltman (32) and Lloyd Saltman (29) have all enjoyed professional golfing careers, taking part in major competitions such as The British Open and European Tour.
