Plains sailing

AN £8.2 million refurbishment of Plains Waste Water Treatment Works has been completed, helping to protect the environment of the North Calder Water and increase capacity for new customer connections.
As part of the project the old waste water treatment works at Caldercruix has been retired and a new pumping station built in its place. Its flows are now taken through an underground pipe to Plains, where they are treated to an improved standard before being returned safely to the environment.
The project, carried out on Scottish Water’s behalf by Expanded, has also increased local waste water treatment capacity.
