MORRISON Construction’s project manager Allan Lyttle has been named as a finalist in this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA), awarded by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
He is nominated in the category of ‘New Build & Refurbishment between £7m-£17m’, acknowledging his hard work on the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre, Edinburgh.
Unlike many award schemes, the CMYA recognise an individual’s management skills and abilities in overall project delivery. Judges from the CIOB selected the finalists following a rigorous process involving a written submission, a site visit, meetings with the client and Allan had to make a presentation to and take detailed questions from a distinguished panel. Each category will have a ‘Gold’ and ‘Silver’ winner with someone walking away with the title of overall Construction Manager of the Year at the awards evening taking place on 30 October in London.
Allan said, “This ranks as the gold standard of award accolades within the industry, and even to get nominated for consideration is a great achievement in itself. I worked alongside a great team and believe that the great success and this nomination should be attributed to everyone involved in this project. This recognition from the CIOB is a very proud moment and I am truly grateful for the entire experience.”
The Wester Hailes Health Living Centre, built via the Hub South East programme, involved the construction of a 5,000 sqm, three-storey health and wellbeing facility for NHS Lothian in conjunction with the City of Edinburgh Council. The Centre contains new accommodation for the local GP surgery and community health services as well as local and city wide health and social care facilities and a community café. The project was successfully completed 11-weeks ahead of programme.
