BALFOUR Beatty has been appointed preferred bidder by NHS Ayrshire & Arran for the £47 million Acute Mental Health and Community Hospital project.

The project comprises a new 206 bedroom mental health and community hospital, bringing together a range of outpatient and in-patient facilities on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site, Irvine.
Balfour Beatty will finance, design and construct the project, expected to reach financial close in Q3 2014.
Derek Lindsay, NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Director of Finance and Senior Responsible Officer for the project, said, “Balfour Beatty’s final tender offers a high quality design and therapeutic environment.”
Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Andrew McNaughton, said, “Balfour Beatty has delivered £2 billion worth of healthcare facilities in the past decade, including over 800 mental health beds and 3,000 acute beds. In recent years we have become a leader in the healthcare PPP market in the UK coupled with substantial experience in the construction of major hospital facilities in the US.”
