BARR Construction has been chosen to deliver the new 25,000sq ft ASDA superstore in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire.
The store is being built on a redundant site behind the former health centre. It will include a petrol station, parking for 250 cars and two electronic car charge points.
The Barr Construction team has started work on site by demolishing the former health centre and library to make way for the new supermarket.
Derek Simpson, Operations Manager for Barr Construction, said, “As a Paisley-based company, Barr Construction is proud to be involved in the regeneration of the local area. We are looking forward to starting works and playing an integral role in the redevelopment of the town centre.
“Barr has a successful track record of building retail superstores around the UK and, as our second project with Asda following the opening of the Dundee store, we are looking forward to continuing our relationship.”
Lisa Rooke, Asda’s Property Communications Manager for Scotland, said, “The proposals will see a significant investment in the town.”
