BAM to build Perth schools

BAM Construction is to build two new primary schools for Perth and Kinross Council as part of their capital investment programme and delivered through Hub East Central Scotland.

The individually designed primary schools have an approximate construction value of £17 million and, once completed, can jointly accommodate more than 1,000 nursery and primary pupils.
Located on the playing fields of the existing primary school at Viewlands Road in Perth, the new 4,000 m² Oakbank Primary will include an integrated nursery, roof terrace, learning resource centre, general purpose room and break-out areas around the main flexible teaching spaces.
Safe and engaging outdoor play spaces will fill the rest of the site.
Thew school is expected to open in the summer of 2015 when the existing school will be demolished.
The new Crieff Primary School and nursery will be built on a greenfield site on Broich Road, adjacent to Strathearn community Campus, and will share design features with Oakbank Primary School, reflecting the needs of the Scottish Government’s ‘Building Better Schools’ strategy. The school is expected to open in Summer 2015.
Douglas Keillor, regional director BAM Construction, said, “Both schools will provide great new facilities which will bring a real benefit to the pupils, their families and the school staff.” Designers of both schools are Holmes Miller Partnership, Blyth & Blyth, DSSR and Ralph Ogg and Partners.
