A site in West Lothian is being prepared for the arrival of Europe’s largest family-run car company.
The work, including land remediation, is being carried out in Armadale, on a vacant five-acre site on Station Road for the Arnold Clark organisation. The company will relocate from the Main Street to the larger site where it is building a new showroom, hardstanding for 400 cars, service department and car valet building.
The Southdale development is one of Scotland’s largest regeneration projects with an estimated value of £200m and includes a mix of residential, commercial and education construction.
The relocation of Arnold Clark is part of the second phase of the scheme which will comprise 384 homes, shops, community building, offices and commercial units.
The first phase of housing for the site by Taylor Wimpey and Bellway consists of 191 houses with an ASDA supermarket which opened last September.
More than £12m has been invested to date by EWP Investment Ltd, including building a new road network, upgrading utilities, site remediation and planning.
