BALFOUR Beatty is among the founder members of a new organisation that wants to put Building Information Modelling (BIM) into practice across the industry.
BIM is a process designed to create and manage building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact. The new group, BIM4IUK, is supported by the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Construction Project Information committee.
Balfour Beatty has implemented the process on projects such as the £592m Terminal 2b project at London Heathrow International Airport which resulted in improved coordination and enabled a peak workforce of 1,600 to complete work ahead of schedule.
