Medals still being awarded for 2012 Games performers

THE teams responsible for the London 2012 Games transport and the Olympic/Paralympic route network have won a top award from The Institution of Civil Engineers.

The institution’s London Civil Engineering Award for the greatest contribution to the capital was presented to the Olympic Delivery Authority team responsible for Games transport and Transport for London which created the route network.
Entries were judged by a panel including Rod Macdonald, founding partner and former chairman of Buro Happold, and Howard Shiplee, executive director of Laing O’Rourke.
Winners in other categories included the upgrade to Tottenham Court Road station, and the first phase of the Hammersmith Flyover strengthening project, which was given a special award for emergency engineering.
