Knauf Marmorit is offering free CPD seminars designed to simplify the specification of external wall insulation and render systems.
Content can be tailored to architects, contractors or even individual projects and will include information on various product options and best practice. The seminars are part of the customer support package and can be arranged at customers’ premises for up to 20 personnel.
The Render Systems’ presentation includes photographs, drawings and diagrams to illustrate the full range of render types, including traditional lime render and more modern silicone and acrylic systems. Cause and prevention of render failures are explained, as well as issues such as staining from window cills or cappings that are not installed with the correct overhang or drip. Also included is a substrate guide with recommended render specifications, including whether a primer is required and which Marmorit base coat and top coat should be used to achieve the best result.
The presentation is completed by an overview of hand and machine application methods and how to achieve different finishes.
Free CPD presentations are also available on external wall insulation, focusing on the Warm Wall systems. This provides an overview of different options in the range and their suitability for new development and refurbishment. The presentation also takes an in-depth look at the specification of elements such as bonding and reinforcement mortars, including corner detailing and joint tapes for a rain-proof connection. Recommendations are given on how to achieve different thermal resistance values, and advice when working with Warm Wall on a refurbishment project, such as checking that the old façade is stable if it serves as a base, insulation thicknesses, and ensuring fire regulations are observed.
