MORE than £4m will be spent in the next financial year on road and footpath repairs in Inverclyde.
The package is part of the £17m set aside for capital projects on roads, footways and street lighting agreed in the council’s three-year budget in February.
Detailed plans for a range of routes have been drawn up and prioritised for the first year’s investment. Carriageway and footway projects are for selected length of roads.
Environment convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: “This investment is part of our long-term strategy to clear the maintenance backlog and bring our roads up to a good state of repair.”
