Agency cash for building repairs

TWO mills, a suspension bridge and the country’s oldest working theatre are among the latest recipients of Historic Scotland’s building repair grants.
Six historic sites will get funding totalling £587,049 through the scheme that helps property owners meet the cost of high-quality repairs using traditional materials and specialist craftsman to conserve original building features. In return, owners must maintain the building and allow some access to visitors.
The buildings include The Theatre Royal in Dumfries, which is the oldest theatre in use in Scotland, and John O’Groat’s Mill in Caithness and St Fillan’s Mill in Killin.
