The signs look good – Cladding business aquired by Merson Group

THE acquisition of a cladding business by a signs company will see major investment at an East Kilbride factory.
Merson Group has acquired the trade and assets of CGL Systems, a company with 70 years experience in the design and manufacture of cladding and rainwater management systems. The new owner is one of the UK’s leading signage contractors with clients including Volvo, Tesco and BAA. It has operations in Glasgow and England as well as the Gulf Region where it consults on state infrastructure projects.
A Merson spokesman said the deal extends its product range and will increase its capacity to boost export activity. The two businesses will be combined into a 50,000 sq. ft. complex in East Kilbride and there will be “major” capital expenditure on plant and equipment. Annual turnover will be more than £25m.
Roddy Angus, managing director of Merson Group, commented: “CGL Systems is a great strategic fit for our organisation. It allows us to enhance our service offering, greatly increase our capacity for further international growth and benefit from synergies in many other areas.”
