REGENERATION of an A-listed pavilion on the Isle of Bute is closer to fruition after it secured support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The project to restore Rothesay Pavilion, owned and operated by Argyll and Bute Council, has been given a ‘first-round pass’ for funding of £2.7m, including development costs of £103,100, meaning the scheme now has up to two years to submit fully developed proposals to compete for a firm award.
The site in the old Scottish seaside town is regarded as one the most important examples of a Modern Movement building in the UK. The HLF’s endorsement means the project can progress with further fund-raising, development of a creative strategy and setting up a charity that will run the site when the project is complete.
