CLANCY Consulting has announced the promotion of Ross Taylor to associate with responsibility for running the day-to-day operations of its Prestwick office.
Described by the firm as a ‘high-driven’ and ‘experienced’ structural engineer, Ross is skilled in managing large-scale projects in a ‘wide variety’ of sectors and has ‘extensive’ experience of leading teams.
Having started his career as an apprentice technician, he gained his college and university degrees during part-time study while working at numerous engineering firms.
Commenting on his promotion, Ross said, “I’m delighted to assume this role to oversee the operations of the Prestwick office.
“My main priority now is continuity of service to our expanding client base by retaining our current team in Prestwick and adding to it through the recruitment of new apprentices whom we can train and provide opportunities for them to study part-time at college or university.
“We are continually seeking to widen our client base, and this will continue to be a focus through attendance at various client events, careers fairs and service delivery so that clients continue to approach us for new projects.”
Gordon Megahy, Glasgow-based director of Clancy, added, “Given his structural engineering skills and the commitment he has shown to the firm over the course of the last four years, Ross’ promotion is well-deserved, and we look forward to the continued growth of our office in Prestwick.
“Ross’ promotion at Prestwick follows the retirement of director Neil Orrock, who oversaw our civil and structural teams in Prestwick and Glasgow, having joined the team in 2010 when Hodgins Smith Partnership became part of the Clancy family.
“Neil has led a number of major engineering projects within the commercial, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and residential sectors and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
Recent projects carried out at Clancy’s Prestwick office include designing the new North Stand at Somerset Park for Ayr United Football Club, Helensburgh Leisure Centre for Argyll and Bute Council, and a development of 130 energy-efficient, affordable homes on a greenfield site in Annan for Cunninghame Housing Association.
