DUNDEE construction workers have participated in an event designed to encourage a healthy and productive working environment.

SME contractors working on the new Baldragon Academy were invited to attend the Healthy Working Lives (HWL) event on-site, hosted by Robertson and organised by the NHS Tayside Workplace Programme team and Dundee City Council.

The event featured stalls offering information and attendees got the opportunity to try out the Sense Scotland smoothie-making exercise bike.

Confidential lifestyle health checks, physiotherapy sessions and financial advice were also offered.

Kevin Dickson, managing director, Robertson Construction Tayside, said, “As a large business, it’s absolutely vital for us to look after the health and wellbeing of not only our own employees, but also those of our SME subcontractors. As part of our Community Benefits Programme we hold a bronze HWL Award and are committed to providing productive, safe workplace with a healthy, positive workforce that feel supported.

“The event was a brilliant way to showcase the resources and support available in the local area to subcontractors assisting work on the new Baldragon Academy as we reach a crucial stage in construction, with work forecast to complete by the end of the year.”
