Bo’ness

FOUR ex-pupils of Bo’ness Academy are now in the senior management team of a major European manufacturing firm.

Alex Brown, managing director of NorDan UK Ltd, based in their Stirling office, has welcomed former school mate William Murray to his team as Commercial manager, London. William joins Davie Smith, UK logistics manager and Peter O’Neil, general manager Central Scotland.
All four gentlemen have been working in the Scandinavian building products industry for the last 20 years.
Alex said, “To work with friends is challenging but greatly fosters trust in our team.
“I am delighted to welcome William Murray to the NorDan UK team this year.
“William brings a wealth of experience in our industry to our sales and project management effort in the London and South East area.”
NorDan manufactures high quality timber windows in eight factories in Europe, with group headquarters at Moi in Norway. Last reported group turnover was £176m, with a turnover of approximately £30m in the UK, £18m of that from Scotland.
Timber windows and composite doors are delivered into major large scale projects across the UK, from social housing to private developers and most recently the first council housing stock built in London with private finance as well as the windows over 6000 athletes will look through as they wake up in July in Glasgow.
Alex continued, “From a young age I have always been inspired by entrepreneurship and business strategy with a goal to be market leader and I have achieved that objective.
“One of our biggest recent projects was delivering all the windows and doors into the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village in Glasgow.
“The 750 homes built will be part of the Legacy of the Games, becoming affordable housing after July 2014.”
