MORRISON Construction has been named official construction services supplier to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

Morrison, part of Galliford Try, will build two temporary coach terminals for the event, which will see the cream of American golfers line up against their European counterparts.
The firm will also be the preferred partner for any additional construction works deemed necessary.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try plc, said, “We are proud to be an official supplier of The Ryder Cup 2014, one of the top sporting events in the world, and we are genuinely thrilled to play our part in it at Gleneagles.

“The Ryder Cup is about much more than a sporting spectacle for Scotland.
“It is already creating a real legacy through business opportunities for Scottish companies and their supply chains and improvements to local infrastructure.”

Edward Kitson, Ryder Cup Match Director, said, “We are delighted to welcome Galliford Try and their Scottish business arm Morrison Construction to the family of suppliers for The 2014 Ryder Cup.
“The coach terminals being constructed by the firm are key to the successful delivery of thousands of spectators to and from Gleneagles and we are very pleased that, as well as being built to the highest specifications, there is also a high priority being placed on environmental issues.”

Key to Galliford Try’s decision to become an official supplier was the Ryder Cup organisers commitment to a sustainable procurement code that places a high priority on environmental issues and seeks to maximise the use of renewable energy, deliver zero waste to landfill, and minimise water consumption through reuse and recycling at tournaments.
Already, the innovative approach taken to construct the two coach terminals has saved 88 tonnes of CO2.
